Ik heb al een tijdje Red Dead Redemption, maar ik kan het spel niet online spelen. Als ik online wil gaan spelen, komt er een melding op het scherm: Online play is disabled due to parental control restrictions. Nu heb ik de parental control al uitgezet, maar de online mode werkt nog steeds niet. Weet iemand ALSJEBLIEFT hoe je dit moet oplossen.

Er wordt nog meer zeer weinig gepost hier; voornamelijk mijn eigen schuld natuurlijk :) ik ben in 2007 vader geworden en heb sindsdien eigenlijk geen tijd meer om te Flightsimmen tot m'n grote spijt. Ook het forum heeft helaas plaats moeten maken voor andere prioriteiten (inmiddels, 2010, heb ik zelfs 2 dochters..). Ik zal proberen wat meer tijd te schenken aan Gamevillage en dit forum in het bijzonder om de boel toch nog wat levend te houden.

Shank. Het is de naam van deze game en tevens ook de naam van de hoofdrolspeler. Een 2D sidescrolling beat’m up in mooie cartoony stijl. Een game waarin je de meeste bizarre vijanden tegen komt en deze op de meest bizarre wijze kan aanvallen. Is dat wat? Wie weet!

Verhaal? Waar??
Zoals bij veel XBL games heeft ook Shank maar een flinterdunne verhaallijn. In het openingsfilmpje zien we dat een bende criminelen bij Shank thuis hem en zijn vrouw vermoorden. Uiteraard overleeft Shank zijn dodelijke verwondingen en wil nog maar 1 ding. WRAAK! Het hele spel draait om je zoektocht naar de verantwoordelijken voor de dood van zijn vrouw. Deze zoektocht is volledig in een 2D jasje gestoken en het is dus een standaard sidescrolling game. Wel ziet het spel er grafisch echt te cool uit gezien het is gemaakt met handgetekende animatie en het oogt allemaal wat ruw qua vorm. Ik vond dat persoonlijk wel erg cool. Eigenlijk vond ik daarom de tussenfilmpjes nog toffer dan het spel zelf, haha.



Hoe doe je dat dan?
Als Shank heb je beschikking over messen, pistolen, een kettingzaag en later nog een assortiment aan andere wapens, waaronder een shotgun en een katana, tot je beschikking om je een weg te banen door de ruwweg 3 uur durende game. Je hebt normale aanvallen en een soort comboaanvallen, maar echt spectaculair is het niet. Het vechten voelt erg aan als buttonbashen en ik heb het getest om de hele game uit te spellen met maar 1 wapen en de hele tijd dezelfde knop te spammem. Het lukt!(op de bossfights na) en dat spreekt niet in de game zijn voordeel als je het mij vraagt.

OFFLINE!!??
Shank bezit een multiplayer modus, maar deze is dus niet online te spelen. Als je de co-op missies wilt doorlopen zul je er old-school een maat moeten bellen en vragen of hij naast je op de bank komt zitten. Wellicht zijn we verwend dat tegenwoordig alles online kan, maar ik vind het toch een groot gemis dat Shank dan weer juist geen online gameplay heeft.



Tja, gemengde gevoelens. Ik heb me best vermaakt met Shank, maar dat is groot en deels te wijten aan de stijl van het spel en de tussenfilmpjes(ok,ok..de bossfights zijn wel grappig) dan dat het spel op zich echt tof is. Het eerste level is nog cool, maar daarna wordt het allemaal een beetje herhaling. Wil je ff snel een potje snelle, bizarre actie dan is dit spel zeker iets voor jouw, maar voor een game van maar gemiddeld 3 uur vindt ik 1200 MS punten te duur. Zeker als je bedenkt dat door het ontbreken van online co-op de replywaarde drastisch daalt.
